Quarantine Inbox

Quarantined Inbox – Displays Messages Barracuda has flagged as probable spam.

Deliver/Whitelist/Delete - For any checked messages, “Deliver” delivers the messages to your Inbox, “Whitelist” instructs the Barracuda to always deliver mail from this user, and “Delete” deletes the messages permanently.

Classify as Spam/Not Spam:  For any marked messages, tells the Barracuda whether the message is spam, or not spam.  The more messages you classify, the more accurately Barracuda filters your messages in the future.

Preferences

Whitelist/Blacklist – “Whitelist” always permits mail from the specified email address (e.g. joe@domain.com) or domain (e.g. domain.com).  “Blacklist” always blocks mail from the specified email address or domain.

Quarantine Settings

Quarantine Enable/Disable – Leave to “yes” to have your quarantined messages reside on the Barracuda.  If “No” is selected, probable spam will be delivered to your inbox with the [QUAR] tag in the subject line.

Notification interval - How often Barracuda notifies you that you have messages in your quarantine.

Notification address – Overrides the default quarantine notification address.

Spam Filtering

Enable Spam Filtering - Enables/Disables spam scoring (if disabled, messages will still be checked globally for likelihood of spam - is message coming from a server known to send spam in the past, are the headers indicative of spam, etc -- but no specific checks will be done on message body for likelihood of spam.)

Use System Defaults – When set to “Yes” (the default), your Spam Scoring is set to default levels and cannot be changed.  You _must_ switch this to “No” if you wish to customize your Spam Scoring.

Tag, Quarantine, and Block Score – The Barracuda assigns each email a spam score; 0 is the least likely to be spam, 9+ is the most likely to be spam.  Messages with a score below the lowest threshold are delivered normally to user's inbox.

Quarantine - Messages at or below the Quarantine score (default: 5) are delivered normally to the user’s Inbox.  Messages at or above the Quarantine score, but below the Block score, are quarantined by the Barracuda, for later (optional) review.

Block - Messages at or above the Block score are dropped silently, since they are almost certainly not legitimate mail.

Tagging - Tagging is disabled by default.  If activated, it modifies the subject line of probable spam with a [SPAM] tag, for easy filtering by your mail client.  Should you choose to activate it, we recommend setting it quite low, certainly below your Quarantine score.
