I have been licensed since 1981 as a Private Pilot, Single Engine Land. I have 400+ hours, all but a few in a Cessna 175/AVCON (180 hp Lycoming/no geared prop)/Horton STOL N7364M. I have not been an owner of that plane since 1992. I loved night flying as well as recreational, agricultural spotting and vacation flying. The STOL on the 175 made it great for ag work -- it's easy to fly at 45 MPH IAS or less.

Our family has enjoyed attending the Experimental Aircraft Assn. annual late July-early August convention and fly-in at Oshkosh WI for about 14 of the last 20 years. If you are interested in homebuilt, antique, military aircraft or recreational flying, you need to join EAA. If you find yourself in central Wisconsin, a visit to EAA's Air Adventure Museum will be rewarding for any person or family regardless of their main interests.

My brother-in-law Kenton Baughman has worked on 3 homebuilts and flys a KR-2. Brother-in-law Paul Steele is working on a Speed Queen 2000.

Best hangar flying:  1st Place in power-off landing at Colby 1985 rally -- 6" from target! *** Flying my in-laws to Oshkosh 18 hours after my Private Pilot checkride *** Reporting heavy, climbing military traffic closing on me while approaching Knoxville Downtown in haze; taking evasive action only to discover we were seeing parking lot lights -- then realizing ATC must be convinced I was looking for an excuse to do Dutch Rolls over the World's Fair *** Landing on dirt roads to visit Monument Rocks south of Oakley *** Doing 5 second zero-g parabolas with son Jon (6 at the time) and discovering he's better on the stick that I for duration and accuracy of weightless flight  *** Being far from the best stick & rudder guy, but with a reputation and knack for recovery from unusual attitudes
