SWAPFEST RESULTS
Thanks to KØPV and some others, we had by far the best selection of gear at our swapfest, but a catastrophic attendance of about 75! No one has decided if the later date, or just what, is to blame for the poor showing. The good news is, the YL efforts at the food table saved us and we actually netted some profit. We had sales of nearly 30 tables. Winner of the $100 HRO gift certificate Was Kirwin Snodgrass NØXLR of Garden City. The scanner raffle was won by Bob Schwindt of Colby, an employee of KØBJ. In spite of the small crowd alot of folks seemed to enjoy looking over the good selection of gear, and some good deals were made once again. ARRL book sales amounted to just under $100, so the club gets $9+ commission on that.NEW CLUB 440 REPEATER
The club has purchased KØPV's 440 Mhz repeater system. For now we have it on the "reverse" Colorado split it had in Genoa -- 442.65 input/447.65 output. It's located at KBØMBT/NØXNJ QTH, runiing a 16 bay verticla dipole array with 20+dB gain, but only 30' above ground. We've applied for a normal positive split channel pair with the Kansas Amateur Repeater Council, and hope to have the machine moved to the WBØYCZ site 4 miles south of Colby, at 180' soon. There is an auxiliary 145.655 input/output, so you 2m only folks can enjoy this repeater also. It's currently running with a 5/8 wave vertical at Lindberg's. There is no output, of course, from the machine on 145.655 when that same input is active.SUNRAYCE PLANS
As the June 26/27 Sunrayce approaches, plans continue to be made. Good news for KSU alums and state supporters -- the KSU entry successfully qualified in the Arizona trials so they'll be playing with 'the big ones' in the Sunrayce. W3DKH is organizing a comms test on May 10 for the Colorado Sunrayce support team. THey'll be in Last Chance, Anton and Limon. They'll use the 147.225 mountain machine, as well as 146.58 simplex, and 3928 or 7235 on HF, and the test will be established by 11:30AM CDT. If some of us can meet that HF sked that would be good. We'll be interfacing with these folks on race day.NEW AREA HAMS
We had a five successful testers at the swapfest, including Anthony Johnson, harmonic of NØSEG. Anthony is now KCØARB. Ward Taylor of Sharon Springs made short work of Novice-General written and is now KCØARASOCIAL REGISTER
Gregg and Kathy Lindberg and Matt have a new 'harmonic' around the house. Samantha Jean was right on schedule and is offering plenty of opportunities to check those unusual nighttime propagation modes. Congratulations to KBØMBT & NØXNJ. We all knew Sonya KBØYFO was attending Bethel to get a Bachelor's degree, but she'll be getting the Mrs. degree even sooner. She and Eric McDonald are planning a December 27 wedding! Congratulations to Sonya and her new QSL manager.SCANNER RAFFLE
The club is raffling a 50 channel handheld scanner from Gavon's, at $1/ticket. The drawing will be held near the end of the swapfest April 19. Please remember to get tickets sold, with payment, to the drawing on swapfest day. KØFJ has extra tickets.BANDSCAN
BT KØMXU helped Sonya KBØYFO with some ham gear over the spring break. Not sure on teh details but maybe she has a 2 meter rig now. Thanks Allen. BT Bruce KØBJ got infected with the satellite itch a little more at the Norfolk NE hamfest and bought a used FT-790 all-mode 70cm rig. So far he's just tried little antennas and has heard but not worked the MIR 440 FM repeater. Some bigger antennas are a summer project -- look out Mode B. An eyeball QSO with Frank KØBLT, a Mode A friend of Bruce and KBØMBS, was helpful in convincing Bruce to take the plunge on the used Yaesu rig.

MEETING MARCH 13 CCC GOVE ROOM Final swapfest plans are high on the list once again. Jim KGØPI will have a person involved with Explorer scouting at the meeting. They'll be discussing the possibility of the club sponsoring an Explorer scout post associated with radio. This sounds like a program with some neat potential. A 440 Mhz repeater is for sale and will be discussed. The Trojan Amateur Radio Club is a general interest educational and public service ham club. We maintain a 2M FM repeater, packet equipment and a station at the NWS in Goodland. Dues are $10/annually, payable to Kathy NØXNJ, 1872 County Road 15,Colby KS 67701.
