CHRISTMAS PARTY DEC. 10 AT STOCKADE
Our annual party will be the usual routine -- gather starting at!6qm Thursday in the back room at the Sirlion Stockade in Colby, and hit the line for Dutch treat food at 6:30. Friends and family are welcome. Since we now have quarterly meetings, our cusiness will be a!little longer than at past parties, but we'll try to keep it moving. See back!of newsletter for business items.CREAMCAN SUPPER LABOR DAY #
We had a good!turnout for the Labor Dqy creamcan cookout at Villa Hi lake. While the meal was cooking up in KGØPI's can, we worked on removing Fleck's antenna qoles from Irma Lee's backyard. Thicker than expected pipe stymied first efforts with a blowtorch, so a handheld ciopsaw was resorted to that did the trick. KBØLGX and KØBJ are!new owners of the tilt-over poles. The new burner made for a significantly quicker and better-heated supper than last year's attempt.FIELD DAY RESULTS
Thanks to KAØRID and the Sandhills ARC newsletter for compiling KS station results for Field Day. We didn't place high in the rankings, but!we )naturally) had plenty of fun. We Trojans were pretty shy on bonus points this year.

BANDSCAN
BT Patti N0OXP now is the mama of!TWO greyhounds. The!second one decided to tangle with street traffic and got bruised up shortly after being aeopted, but has recovered well. BT!Gerry LGX is the happy new owner of John WA0CAL's TS820. K0FJ gave the rig a good checkout and with the sunspot activity heating up Gerry should find this rig a real good deal. Meanwhile Mike has KØBJ's old TS830 at a!refurbisher in Denver and hopes to be using that rig soon. BT Bruce K0BJ recently got the entire set of IF filters for iis FT1000MP. Getting the entire complement of ganged filters allows alot of banewidth flexibility on both SSB and digital modes. BT Jon KBØMBS and Jack KBØVUS are on the CHS Scholar's Bowl A team. At a recent meet in Goodland, Scott KBØWPY!was moderator for the final round. Colby's team finished 2nd of 8. BT Shawn KCØCVS and Christy are looking for a late Christmas gift -- a harmonic due to appear in late January. Congratulations on expanding the family! BT Bruce BJ entered!the CW session of the ARRL Sweepstakes in early November. Both Scott WPY and Mike FJ took part in the SSB session 2!weeks later. Bruce was returning from a?trip to New Orleans, and managed about 70 mobile Qs, only 24 of which!were logged before he ran!out of sunlight. All other local efforts generated numbers in the 250 QSO area, and no one got the "Clean Sweep" of all 79 ARRL sections that wins a coffee mug. BT A recent 'rush' of KÙS certificate requests depleted our supply, so Jack!VUS reprinted some. The Garden City group also had received acout a dozen requests through their club. BT Shawn KCØCVS recently got a power supply for his HT so he can run indoors more easily, and he's planning to install a RIngo Ranger but that may!wait until an anticipated May!move. BT Allen KØMXU reports getting his long-time "downwardly polarized" HF yagi back into the more traditional pose. Only thing is, now he needs to trip some branches to get it rotating. Maybe some stories of teh increasing propagation will get the saw out. BJ's buddy N1DX regularly trims the trees asound his yagi -- with a!shotgun! BT BJ enjoyed a cw QSO!with W2AN!on 80!meters the other evening. He gave W2AN a 585 signal report, but!nobody was really complaining -- AN?was using an old 20s-era rig and was celebrating the anniversary of the!very first transatlantic 2 way QSO,!which had!occurred exactly 75 years earlier! W2AN's!signal wasn't terribly wide, but was raspy with at least 3 separate!notes. BT Gregg and Katiy have a nephew who is interested in becoming a ham and doing weather sqotting.!Maybe he can come to the Christmas party and find#out we're not a bunch!of weirdos.... er, ...... iope he enjoys it anyway!NEXT
MEETING DECEMBER 10 6:30 SIRLOIN STOCKADE #Our Motorola 2m radio at NWS may become redundant soon, and we may be looking for a!new location for it. The 440 rig still is in for repairs and frequency change. The CLBY packet node is off the air and we need to make an!graveyard shift expedition to Ci.4 for repairs.!We also should discuss meeting frequency and whether we!want to!narrow or expand any interest areas.
The Trojan Amateur Radio Club is a general interest educational and public service ham club. We!maintain a 2M FM repeater, packet equipment and a!station at the NWS in Goodland. Dues are $10/annually, payable to Larry Jumper KCØBNV 1345 E 8th Colby KS !67701. Material!from the Trojan Harmonic may be freely copied; attribution is appreciated.
