GOOFY NEWSLETTER FORMAT Windows is not recognizing the C drive on my desktop

machine, where I normally do the Harmonic. That plus recent return from the sunny

Caribbean = screwed up format for the newsletter - sorry!

RETURN TO MONTHLY MEETINGS WELL RECEIVED Kathy NOXNJ's announced intention to keep

meetings interesting and moving along seems to be producing great results right from the start. We had a

good showing at the January meeting and hope to keep it up. The Feb. meeting will feature a

mini-swapfest of sorts, with a number of items from KORXT's shack being the major attraction. Anyone is

welcome to bring their own items. We'll simply display swap items in the basement of City Hall and open

up for bartering after the business meeting. This is the ideal chance for you to pick up a treasure, or

make the family happy by getting someone else to take that boat anchor to their home. There are also a

number of members who aren't yet current with dues -- if this includes you, please bring $10 to the

meeting or mail to KOFJ.

NO HARMONIC AT CVS QTH YET Shawn KCOCVS and Christy are still waiting for the birth

of their harmonic. Things are overdue enough that word is the doctors are going to get things

moving by Thursday if nothing happens otherwise. You'd think they'd opt for Friday and let

Shawn attend the meeting .......

SMALL WORLD While down in the Caribbean with his family KOBJ enjoyed QSOing

Mike ZF2M0, who is KM9D back in the states. Mike and his girlfriend have spent 2

years outfitting a 33' yacht, and shoved off in December for m9hat they envision tote a

6-10 year sailing trip around the world! Bruce and Janice did some diving and dining

with Mik-e arid Jan, and are now keeping tabs on them. They're meeting up irregularly

around 13302 on 14.287 as part of a group of Indiana and Florida hams. Also Mike is

using a PACTOR gateway to the internet to send emails. He waxed Bruce in the

CQ160 contest, making about 580 QSOs in 25 countries, and will be staying in ZF land

through the CQ160SSB and both modes of the ARRL DX contest.

BANDSCAN BT KOFJ snagged your editor on 20M SS- -while he was signing Z=z--M

down in Grand Cayman. Mike was booming in at s9 on Bruce's lil' Spider antenna 80

yards from the beach. Bruce made a few hundred QSDS an tile high HF bands, including

some RS13 Mode K satellite QSOs. He also operated in the CQ160M CW contest but

spent only 2.5 hours at it, with a

wedding to attend at the Cayman Marriott at the beginning of the contest, then

packing to do before 5:30AM departtur~ for the airpo d and trip home. This operation

was from the ZF1A club station with a 160M inverted vee. BT Jack KBOVUS and the

CHS Scholars Bowl team are having a great 2nd half season. Jorsf -MBS is an

alternate and usually plays 1-3 matches during a tournament. The team won the

Quinter invitational with a 7-0 record, then

repeated that performance at the regional 3A tournament. Both guys are

headed to the state tournament next Saturday in Kinsley. BT Tom NOXNO and

Dare] WAOGBN are both newcomers to email. BT We're not far from storm

season. Watch for info on spring wx spotter training coming up. The

meteoroligist replacing Dennis Hull at Goodlareda~ is st'~dyin(g for his

Tech exam, and may be licensed before spotting season is upon us. BT

Congratulations to KBOWPY and KBO YUL for their rover effvf I ire the fail

.~r°iRt_ ;iHF contest. III
