The police force, that is. Mike drove over from Goodland one night recently to go on patrol with Gary NØXNK, from 7pm to 2am. They broke up a college party and made 1 or 2traffic stops. Mike got to hear KHP radio traffic on astolen car chase from Wakeeney to Grinnell and a manhunt in which they called for Blitz (DL1DOG). There were no 'hot' runs according to Gary, but Mike wants to ride again

Butch has secured a new site at 200' for his Kenwood 440 repeater. It still operates on 444.6, with a 100Hz CTCSS tone. It's using a Hustler vertical, and the Kenwood 25 watt repeater has BUILT-IN duplexing, all in a package about the size of a modern HF rig! Helping install WAØVJR's machine at teh new site were WAØGBN NØQAT NØSEG and Anthony and KØBJ.SCANNER RAFFLE
The club is raffling a 50 channel handheld scanner from Gavon's, at $1/ticket. The drawing will be held near the end of the swapfest April 19. We have a good start on this project and need to keep racking up sales to get well into the 'profit margin'. Please get tickets sold, with payment, to the drawing on swapfest day. KFØMJ has extra tickets.$WAP TABLE

BT KØBJ recently hung a Ghana QSL card on the wall. What's special about this one is that it's from 9G1BJ, the 32nd fellow BJ ham that Bruce has confirmed a QSO with. BT David NØSEG reports there may be another automated packet wx station going up in Sharon Springs sometime in the future. Readability of the packets sent one frame every 20 minutes from Hoxie runs about 80%, at the NWS packet station in Goodland! BT KGØPI an dKØBJ are looking forward to the DXpedition to Scarborough Reef in the South China Sea, coming up in a couple months. Both guys got their coffee mugs from the Heard Island VKØIR DXpedition. Jim continues to rack up new countries on the digital modes, and Bruce recently bagged Hawaii for his 50th state on satellite WAS. BT ARRL is releasing CD-ROMs in half decades, with indexed graphics reproductions of EVERY page of QST. They're back to 1970 at present, and should have them complete to 1915 within the year. KØBJ has been sampling some of the CDs and has had fun looking at WAØVJR's 1987 series on hamming for the blind, as well as other interesting features. It's fun just to scan the ads and see how much the state of the art has changed. Speaking of which, the printing quality of QST in the past few years is really brought home when looking at layouts from the early 70s! BT A number of Trojans attended the NWS weather spotting class March 6 in Colby. The thunderstorm season is fast approaching.
