Did we have a picnic or what???
Our spring picnic was a success to say the least. The weather cooperated pretty well. A little windy but the temperature was pleasant. We had trouble getting a count on the number in attendance ( they kept moving) but I know I counted 95 at one time. Probably safe to say that we were bumping a hundred. As is usual we had a bunch of good food that sure hit the spot. Delwin and crew done a good job cooking the hamburgers, sausages, etc, as usual.
The Sauerkraut Omp Pah band done a superb job of playing music as usual. They have a lot of fun playing their music.
Our First in house fund raiser auction was a success. We raised, $781 Not bad. The high point of the auction was a model hit and miss engine machined out of walnut, hedge, oak, etc. made by Ernie Loganbill. It brought $160 at auction but then the buyer said he was prepared to pay $200, so he did. It was purchased by Jack Garner. I understand Verla Dean told him not to come home without it. Everyone had a lot of fun and I want to thank Larry Frederick of Frederick Auction and Realty for helping Jimmy and I. Guess I better thank my two grandkids, Bryce and Cayln for helping to show the items.

New 1 day show

Wall Mart at Coffeyville wants us to bring our stuff and come to town. July 12 is the date most useable for all. We will discuss this at the meeting before the show date. They will furnish popcorn and oil and they are willing to do some advertising . Will be a goodwill gesture on our part to participate & will get us some good publicity. Keep it in mind and mark your calander.

A thank you note from some members
A great big AMEN to Terrys invite to attend services of the Church of Christ in the building we are now meeting in.
Times are:
Sunday Bible Study 10:00 AM.
Worship 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM
Wednesday Bible Study 7 PM

Strange as it may seem the Antique Tractor & Engine Club and the Church of Christ have a great deal in common. This would be that both are in the restoration business. Much pain and effort is often put forth in these old tractors implements and engines, etc., in our club. In the same way the church sees the need to make every effort to go beyond modern day religions. Back to the 1st century and the New Testament Pattern for worship, doctrine, teaching, entrance in to his church, and living the Christian life.
Please feel welcome to attend. Check us out. See what kind of job we are doing with the restoration of the 1st Century Church in the 21st Century.
Submitted by John & Wave Schrock, Members CVAPA & members Church of Christ.

Hey Ya All, Listen Up
Marjorie Gorby has volunteered to supervise a baked food sale booth. She needs some volunteers to bring baked goods to be sold as a fund raiser. This would be a method to raise some building fund money for the new show grounds. If you are willing to help her in the booth or to bake some goodies give her a call at 620-725-5448. This won’t work without some donated goods. Don’t forget we are selling popcorn this year. Will need some help poppin and sellin.

.
. “Unto each Tractor Show some rain must fall” Wish I had thought of that but I plagiarized it from an overheard comment at the Gentry, Arkansas show Saturday April 19, 2003. As we have written before the Gentry club decided to move their show grounds from the Rose Of Sharon grounds West of Gentry to their own grounds. They purchased 17 acres Southwest of Gentry. Most of us have always been under the impression show grounds needed to be on the highway. Due to the extreme expense of highway frontage the club made a decision to buy this tract which is not on the highway, to say the least. When I got the flyer that Mary Anne Hoppe emailed out I assumed there was no way the grounds could be found. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!. They had the route clearly marked with very visible signs at each intersection . There are about a half a dozen turns in the 4 miles more or less from town. Most of the roads are gravel but good. Unfortunately there was one glitch in their plan. One of our club members drove down to Gentry to attend the show and they followed the directions printed in one of the National Show guides, obviously the show was not at that site and there was no signs to guide them to the new site. These things happen and probably will be corrected before another year. The club has put in a lot of work on the grounds, running water, electricity and a good gravel road into the site. (does this all sound familiar). They also have installed a permanent mobile home and a septic system to it. One other item they have built that is a very good idea is an unloading dock. It is a dirt banked area with two heights for trucks or trailers. It is made from R.R. ties with fill dirt behind. Back to the show. About 8:00 A.M. the storm front moved in with considerable wind, lightning & rain. June and I went to the truck until it blew over. Unfortunately it rained pretty steady at least until about noon when we left. The weather didn’t seem to dampen the spirit of the show, as there was a lot of visitin and probably some prevaricatin going on. We enjoyed the trip and wish the club the best wishes for a successful show. Sunday should have been a very good day with nice weather. I tried to convince some to come to our show. Some said they will try. It is approximately 150 miles from Gentry to Caney. ***** Anyone got anything to consign to the auction on May 31? *****
