Check Out the Web

For the few people who haven't heard  we have a web site for our club.  Donna Ernest, in her spare time, has created an outstanding web site. She has received commendations, ( justifiably) from the National Webmaster and the National Secretary. I have included the web address in the leader heading for the News? Letter. Check it out. Good job Donna!!!
This also creates a slight dilemma. The monthly News? Letter is being posted on the web for the world to see. Does this mean I'm going to have to start being grammatically correct and start spelin correctly. Probably wont happen.

We now have insurance information!!!

An email came across the wire from Ruth Warnock that the National has made a decision that do to the time frame for getting insurance prior to the show season the National will set the insurance rates at $6.50 per person. The National dues will remain the same at $4.00. If the new rates come in higher than the $6.50 the National will absorb the difference.  If it comes in less than the $6.50 the National will refund to the clubs. (Don't expect a refund as I expect it will increase by at least this amount) The indications from the  insurance underwriter  are to expect from 50% to 100% increase in premiums over last year.
This will  make the dues at $20.50 per person for club and National dues. Seems high but I don't think we dare do without insurance.

Some things I have learned !!

One should keep his words soft and sweet as you never know when you will have to eat them.

We should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.

Spring is on its way!!
We have our first show of the
Season lined up.
April 5 will be our show at
Orscheln's Farm Store
at Independence, Ks.

Rick is going to try to get the management to spring for some advertising and to let him have some kind of promotional sale to kick it off.

This is normally our first show of the season each year. Its when we dig our equipment out from winter storage. Unfortunately it's also when we discover we left the old gas in the gas tank. It don't take to long to disassemble a carburetor and dig  the shellac out of the jets.
Hopefully we don't discover we forgot to put antifreeze in the radiator or drain the water.
Rick wants the popcorn machine brought up like we have done in the past. We may also set up our tables and sell chances on our fund raiser items.

Mark your calendar!!!

The last weekend in February was a bear in our part of the world. Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma seen about a third of a yard of snow and very cold temperatures. Kinda shut things down. Schools closed, courthouses closed, lot of cars in the ditches.
Lotsa fun. It snowed off and on all week. March came in like a lion and so should go out like a lamb. Spring will be welcome when it arrives.

Some highlights of the February meeting:

It was voted at the January meeting to have a 3 x 5 flag made. It was decided this meeting to have the flag blue with white lettering. It will incorporate the club logo. It was decided to leave the color of the tractor in the middle of the logo to the flag makers discretion, the original was orange. She can see how it looks on the blue background.
The club show buttons are in. Looks to be OK. Has picture of Fordson tractor on it.
After considerable discussion a motion was made, seconded and approved to have the caps similar to past years made to give away and to sell to those that want them. It will have current years dates on it.
A second motion was made, seconded and approved to have 144 good quality caps made with embroidered club name and no date for those that wanted a dressier cap.
There had been some discussion about having the tractor pulls on Sunday. After checking with the sled operator it was learned that he would not be available on Sunday, so it was decided to have the pulls, as in the past, starting at noon on Saturday.
The consignment auction will be Saturday afternoon starting at 4:00 P.M. free ice cream will be after the auction.
It was also voted to have a tractor rodeo on Friday evening.  The free bean feed and ice cream will be after the rodeo. We may borrow the chariot from the Winfield club.
Delwin Cotton has built a neat see-thru  box to put building fund donations into. Seemed to work fairly well at the meeting.
A motion was made seconded and approved to pay the church $25 per meeting to cover expenses.
It was approved for JoAnne to order 20 National Show Directories to resell.
Bill Ernest appointed some volunteers to run various exhibits at the show.
