 | | Richard Slimon earned a BFA degree in painting from the St. Louis
School of Fine Art at Washington University. After receiving a graduate
fellowship from the University of Wichita, he served briefly as Acting
Director of the Wichita Art Museum. He then became a teaching fellow
at the university while earning his MFA degree in painting. His
teaching experiences include an Artist-in-Residency at the University
of Iowa, Iowa City. He is Professor Emeritus at Emporia State
University, where he taught drawing and painting for many years.
Richard Slimon's work is included in private, corporate, university and museum
collections throughout the country. His many awards include a purchase from
the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. He has had
twenty-five one-man shows and has participated in numerous invitational
and competitive exhibitions.
Over the years, Slimon has been represented by the Jan Weiner Gallery
in Kansas City and the Slater/Price Gallery in New York City. Currently he is represented by the Strecker-Nelson Gallery in Manhatttan, Kansas, and maintains a studio in his home.
