Cramps Graphics
This page has some press release photos of the Cramps from various stages in their career. There are also some Cramps postcards I've collected over the years.

Early Press Photo

This is a press photo for Gravest Hits, released June 1979. "They ooze, you'll throb."

Gravest Hits Promo

Press photo for the first full-length album Songs The Lord Taught Us, released in March of 1980. "As it says on the cover, "File Under Sacred Music."

Outtake Press Photot

Another early press photo from around 1980.

Psychedelic Jungle Promo
Psychedelic Jungle Promo

International Record Syndicate (I.R.S.) press release photos for the Cramps second album, Psychedelic Jungle, released March 30, 1981. "It carries on in the nerve-twisting body-bending tradition of Songs The Lord Taught Us...Combining the unyielding passion for rabid trashy sixties rockabilly psychedelia and the inherent understanding of "B" horror film culture..."

Psychedelic Jungle Promo

I'm not sure if this is an official press release photo or not, but it sure warrants being posted.

Promo Photo

Another press release photo, I guess. I don't have any bio to accompany it. Photo taken sometime between July and September 1980, the short time that Julien Griensnatch was in the band. The Cramps were filmed for the movie Urgh! A Music War during this time and it was my first exposure to the Cramps. The show was August 15, 1980 at Santa Monica. 'Tear It Up' was the song selected for the film. Video outtakes exist of 'I Was A Teenage Werewolf' and 'Human Fly', which are well worth seeing.

Another Press photo

Press photo of unknown origin. Possibly from a New Rose press kit.

A Date With Elvis Aussie Promo

Press photo released with the Austarlian promo press kit for the A Date With Elvis album and tour.

Stay Sick Promo Photo

Press release photos for Stay Sick!, released in 1990 on Enigma Records. "Enter the Cramps. They are crazy and dangerous and genuine rock 'n' roll... they value this music above all else... The songs are of decapitations, transmorgrifications, psycho frenzies, invading saucermen, voodoo and pussy. Always pussy. It's a smoking, fuzzy, wild sound, full of an intensity that lies halfway between sexual stimulation and demonic possession." I saw the Cramps for the first time on this tour at the Shadow in Kansas City and I've never been the same!

A press photo by Michael Lavine.

Restless Records Promo

Restless Records press release photo for the 1991 release, Look Mom, No Head! This release introduced us to Nickey Alexander on drums and Slim Chance on bass. Iggy Pop joined the band on vocals for 'Miniskirt Blues'. Got to see the great Rev. Horton Heat open up for the Cramps in Columbia, MO on this tour.

Flame Job Promo

America's Premier Show Band, the Cramps, 1994 press release photo for the Medicine Label release, Flamejob. Harry Drumdini takes over on drums for this one. "Sticky soulmates Lux Interior and poison Ivy need no introduction: they're the reigning sultan and sultana of sleeze, the warped masterminds behind the infamous Cramps. United by an unhealthy obsession for lurid horror flicks, souped-up hot rods and obscure rockabilly, Ivy and Lux take primal, stripped-down rock 'n' roll and Crampity it into a mutant four-headed surfadelic- raunchabilly monster. The result is a sweaty, lusty celebration of all that is deviant, excessive and hedonistic which can only be accurately described as the sound of The Cramps." One of my favorites! They did a tremendous job promoting this album with several singles, a picture disc, a double CD promo, and two videos.

Big Beat From Badsville Promo Big Beat From Badsville Promo

Photos from their latest release, Big Beat From Badsville on Epitaph. Some quotes from the press release: "Dangerously bizarre but most of all cool, The Cramps represent everything that is truly reprehensible about rock 'n' roll. The Cramps are about real rock 'n' roll, and that means kicks. Unlike many of rock music's wannabe thug poseurs, The Cramps are the real deal. These are raw, intense tales from way out there - and if, after experiencing these songs, you still think The Cramps are just kidding around, then it's obvious that you're not a part of their world, and never will be."

Vengeance Records Promo

Vengeance Records is ours! - sayeth The Cramps. The Cramps have re-released six of their albums on their own resurrected label (see the poster above for more info). A new album is scheduled for release in the spring.

Vengeance Records Promo

The latest press photo for the new release Fiends of Dope Island on Vengeance Records!

These five live on stage pictures were taken in France to be used for the inner picture sleeves of the four 7" records that were part of the New Rose "Smell of Female" box set, but were not used on the sleeves.
